AI chatting and selling in Telegram Stars: the operator's guide

Telegram is the channel where an AI can run the whole sale, from the first message to the unlock, without a chatter on shift. This guide puts in one place what an agency operator needs to decide and to start: why Telegram, how a sale happens when an AI runs it, what "full AI" means in practice, the Stars economics in one table, the price, the rules, a setup checklist and the questions agencies ask us. 1. Why Telegram for creators now

Three things make Telegram a selling channel rather than a support channel. First, a native currency: Telegram Stars, launched in 2024, are the only currency allowed for digital goods, paid media and paid messages inside Telegram, so a fan unlocks a photo or a video in the chat itself, with no redirect and no separate checkout (Telegram Stars economics). Second, the conversation is a direct message between the fan and the creator's own profile, and Telegram's FAQ states that "Private groups and chats on Telegram are private amongst their participants" (what the rules actually say). Third, reach: Telegram reports over 1 billion monthly active users, and the fan needs no new app and no new login to buy.

What Telegram publishes about the money is unusually precise. The Bot Developer Terms state that "Developers can receive an equivalent of 0.013 USD worth of rewards for each Telegram Star" (section 6.2.4, checked 2026-09-11), the same figure the API configuration exposes as stars_usd_withdraw_rate_x1000 = 1300, i.e. 13.00 USD per 1,000 Stars. Telegram also publishes what a fan pays for those Stars by channel, the 21-day hold before withdrawal, the 1,000 Stars minimum, and the fact that withdrawals go through Fragment to a TON wallet. What it does not publish: any Fragment or TON conversion cost, and the exact web and desktop price, available only as an API reference rate. Section 4 keeps the three figures an operator needs.

2. How a Telegram sale happens with an AI

The sequence we run on our own creators, as documented on the Telegram product page. The AI does every step; a human can step in on any fan at any time.

  1. The fan arrives. He writes to the creator's real Telegram profile: no separate bot to find, no app to install. The AI replies from the creator's own account, connected through Telegram Business, in the fan's language, in seconds or with a delay you configure.
  2. Persona and discovery. The AI answers from a persona you wrote: personality, way of speaking, vocabulary, negotiation style, hard boundaries and forbidden topics. Before any paid offer it gets the basics a real creator would want: first name, what the fan likes, how he talks. That context feeds the fan's memory and shapes the pitch (how the AI sells).
  3. Scripted funnel and paid media. The AI runs the script you wrote: a hook, free teasers, then paid photos or videos at rising prices, with the message, media, price and post-media follow-up defined for every step. Media rules are built into the engine: one free teaser means one media, video first when the script says so, each paid item sold once per fan and never sent again, even if a human sent it by hand.
  4. Purchase in Stars. The AI sends the locked media at the price set for that step; the fan taps to unlock and pays in Stars without leaving the chat. Nothing is delivered on trust: the AI does not move on because a fan writes "paid", it waits for Telegram to confirm the unlock. Droppfans payment links are supported alongside Stars; they send the fan to a checkout outside Telegram, while purchases made inside the chat use Stars, as Telegram requires for digital goods.
  5. Follow-up and memory. The AI follows up after media and after silence, offers the next step, and keeps offering it on your schedule to fans who pay but never write. Every fan has a history the AI reads before replying: what he saw, bought and refused, and the notes written about him. Prices follow the ladder you set per step, with a floor the AI can negotiate down to and never below.
The rule that matters for Stars: a locked Stars item can only be sent by the AI. If you pause the AI on a fan and reply yourself from the creator's Telegram, you write text; the paid media still goes out through the AI.

3. What "full AI" means, and what hybrid means

The industry sells two things under one name. A copilot drafts messages that a human sends, so the shift schedule and the payroll stay. An autonomous AI reads the fan message, decides the reply, sends it and runs the sale, with a human stepping in only when needed (AI chatting for agencies). OnlyChat is the second kind. Concretely:

  • Autonomous selling. The AI sends the message, the teaser, the locked media and the follow-up. It follows the script and the rules you configured, and improvises only the conversation around them.
  • Memory per fan. History, purchases, refusals and notes are read before every reply. A fan who follows two of your creators is two separate memories: fans, conversations and media are isolated per creator (what agencies need from an AI chatter).
  • Human takeover, with a threshold you choose. Pause the AI on any fan and reply yourself from the creator's Telegram. Activation runs per creator, by time slots or 24/7, so the AI can cover nights and weekends while a human covers the biggest spenders if you want one. On Premium, Telegram alerts tell you when a fan is worth a human.
  • Multi-creator. Each creator has her own account, persona, scripts, media rules, price ladder and fan history. One dashboard shows the roster, with revenue and conversion per script; a script can be copied from one creator to another in one click. Team members are invited with Admin or Moderator templates and permissions set per feature group (help center).

Hybrid is not wrong; it is a different cost structure. If you keep chatters on peak hours, the AI still earns its fee between 2am and 8am, where a human roster leaks revenue. 4. Stars economics in three lines

Three figures decide your Telegram pricing. All come from Telegram Stars economics, where each is sourced and dated (checked 2026-09-11). They are dated references, not guarantees: Telegram itself notes that amounts "may vary from user to user due to VAT and other applicable fees".

The reward value is not your final net. It is what Telegram credits before the 21-day hold (Content Creator Terms 4.1), the 1,000 Stars withdrawal minimum, the Fragment and TON conversion (costs not published by Telegram) and, on OnlyChat, the 15% commission on the net revenue the AI generates. Three operator decisions follow. Price in Stars from the reward value, never from the app store price: a 15 USD unlock is 1,154 Stars at 0.013 USD, not 750 Stars. Encourage Stars purchases off mobile with a one-line hint in the pinned message or bio, since Telegram's Terms list @PremiumBot and the Web and Desktop apps as purchase channels. Withdraw on a schedule, because unwithdrawn Stars are "valid for 3 years from the date they were received", then forfeited (Content Creator Terms 4.6).

5. The price, in one line

Telegram plan: $20 per month per creator plus 15% of the net revenue generated by the AI on Telegram; no sale, no commission; prepaid balance topped up by card, bank transfer or cryptocurrency, and the AI pauses if the balance reaches zero (pricing). For reference, the OnlyFans plans are Pro at $20 and Premium at $70 per creator per month, each plus 10% of AI-generated net revenue, which means only what the AI sells, net of platform fees. The same AI and the same scripts run on both platforms.

6. Rules to respect

We are operators, not lawyers; this section quotes published texts as read on the dates given. Two articles do the full reading: selling adult content on Telegram: what the rules actually say and the OnlyFans AI chatbot rule: never on the terms page, alive in a help-center FAQ.

On Telegram. The Terms of Service ask users not to "Post illegal pornographic content on publicly viewable Telegram channels, bots, etc." and not to "Use our service to send spam or scam users"; the FAQ treats private chats as private amongst their participants. The Stars Terms and the Content Creator Terms contain no adult-content clause (checked 2026-09-11); the Bot Developer Terms prohibit "illegal, pirated, regulated or questionable goods and services" (section 5). The developer documentation states that "Payments for digital goods and services must be carried out exclusively in Telegram Stars", and the Stars Terms that "All sales of Telegram Stars are final". In practice, as we run it: sell in private conversations, deliver as paid media; keep every public surface safe for work; verify age on your side; respect the law where you and your fans live; no cold mass messages. On refunds, keep two things apart: the Stars purchase is Telegram's matter (sales are final on its side, yet its bot terms allow refunds to be debited from your Stars balance in case of a dispute, so keep your own record of what was sold), while a refund of the content is your decision and your procedure.

On OnlyFans, if you run both. The sentence "You cannot use an AI chatbot to write chats or direct messages", attributed to the OnlyFans terms since a Reuters investigation of July 30, 2024, was never on the terms page: it appears in none of the 296 archived captures of onlyfans.com/terms and onlyfans.com/contract from 2022 to 2026 (292 readable). A prohibition did exist, in a question-and-answer page of the Community Guidelines inside the help center (article 213), which OnlyFans itself counts as part of its Terms of Service; that page today says something narrower: "OnlyFans does not offer an internal AI chatbot tool for Creators. OnlyFans does not have a public facing API and Creators may not directly integrate AI chat bots into the OnlyFans platform" (consulted September 13, 2026). Silence is not permission, and these documents change without notice; the chronology and every archive link are in our investigation.

7. Getting started checklist

From the Telegram page and two help-center pages, how Telegram works with OnlyChat and Telegram setup; each item below links to the page it comes from. The connection is a Telegram Business feature, so most requirements are Telegram's.

  • A Telegram account to own the bot. It talks to BotFather and holds the token; keep it separate from the creator's account (how Telegram works with OnlyChat).
  • The creator's account with Telegram Premium. Telegram Business, and its Chatbots feature, are part of Premium (how Telegram works with OnlyChat). If Premium lapses, the connection stops and the AI stops replying (Telegram setup).
  • A public username on the creator's account. Without it the business connection is not detected; the help center lists it as the most common cause of a failed setup (Telegram setup).
  • Secretary Mode on in BotFather, then the bot connected in Settings, Telegram Business, Chatbots, with all five permissions (read, reply, mark as read, delete sent, delete received). Telegram sends the connection event when you leave the permissions screen (Telegram setup).
  • A Telegram license and a positive balance in OnlyChat. $20 per month per creator, from the prepaid balance; the AI switch refuses to turn on without either (how Telegram works with OnlyChat).
  • Media uploaded into folders, each with a description, and at least two active scripts. The AI switch does not turn on below two scripts (how Telegram works with OnlyChat).
  • Persona, price ladder and floors written for this creator. If you already sell on OnlyFans, copy the scripts and price the paid steps in Stars from the reward value (section 4).
  • A takeover rule decided before launch. Which fans a human handles, on which hours, and who gets the alerts.

8. Questions agencies ask

Does the AI use a separate Telegram bot that fans have to open?

No. The AI replies from the creator's own Telegram account, connected through Telegram Business. Fans talk to her profile, buy from her profile, and stay in her chat. The bot created in BotFather is a technical bridge fans never open.

How much do we really receive per Star?

A reward value of 0.013 USD per Star, i.e. 13.00 USD per 1,000 Stars, credited after a 21-day hold and withdrawn from 1,000 Stars through Fragment to a TON wallet. That is not the final net: Fragment and TON costs are not published by Telegram, and the OnlyChat commission is charged in addition. What the fan paid depends on where he bought: 19.99 USD per 1,000 in-app on iOS and Android, 15.00 USD on Fragment. Dated references checked 2026-09-11; Telegram notes amounts may vary with VAT and other fees.

Can we run Telegram 100% AI, with no chatter at all?

Is adult content allowed in Telegram paid media?
